Code of Ethics
Occasionally, I'm asked if I can supply a concept design as part of a quote before being contracted to do the work. This is known as 'free pitching'.
I follow the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) code of ethics by not providing concepts prior to acceptance of my quotes. AGDA is strongly opposed to the practice of free pitching and considers it to be non-beneficial to clients and designers. See the AGDA site for more information on why free pitching is a no-win situation for all parties. It contains a number of articles and downloadable notes on the subject including an information page for clients. Smudge is listed on the AGDA Anti-Free Pitching Register.
